Perk up your laundry room décor with the birds and berries on this beautiful ironing board cover, made from William Morris Strawberry Thief design premium cotton fabric with a white background and a design in soft shades of sage, pink, teal, and beige. The nature-inspired garden theme is from the 19th century Art Nouveau era, but it suits all decorating styles. British designer and artist William Morris was a titan in the Arts and Crafts movement. With this cover, you can hang your board on the wall (or just stand it against the wall) when not in use, for an eye-catching, artful display.
• The cover is generously sized and fits standard 15-inch wide and 18-inch extra wide boards up to 54 inches long. Please note that the photos show it on an 18-inch wide board, so less of the design will show on the width (sides) of a standard 15-inch board. The edge is fully adjustable elastic encased in bias binding, so the cover fits snugly on standard and wider boards.
• The fabric is 100% cotton, premium quilting weight fabric with a smooth finish. It is finely woven and a durable choice for an ironing board cover.
• The cover is very durably constructed. The edge of the fabric is serged to prevent fraying, then encased in bias binding separately stitched to both sides of the cover. I made the binding from premium quilting cotton in a pretty tonal pink floral design, as shown in last photo. (The binding does not show when the cover is on, because it's underneath the edge of the board.) The fully adjustable elastic drawstring runs through the casing and has a cord-lock closure that slides along the elastic, so there's no need to knot and unknot the elastic to get the cover to fit. The ends of the elastic are well-secured, so they won't slip back into the casing. The cover will be perfectly tight and smooth on any board, using the simple instructions that I send with each cover.
• The cover is not padded. It should be used over a pad to avoid wear along the edges. You can use your existing pad or purchase a new one elsewhere. See my recommendations about ironing board pads below.
• The cover can be machine washed in cool water, and line-dried or machine-dried on low. Washing may result in minimal shrinking, but the cover is cut generously to allow for it. It also can be dry cleaned (home or professional) to maintain vibrancy of the colors.

ABOUT IRONING BOARD PADS: I used to make ironing board covers with attached pads. I discovered that my own covers wear and wash much better without a pad, and that a separate thick wool pad is better than any attached pad, so I started making all my covers without pads. You can use your existing pad, make one, or purchase a new one elsewhere. My personal preference for an ironing board pad is a 3/8-inch thick wool felt pad, found at Sonoma Wool Company or on Amazon (such as a Rdutuok New Zealand wool pad). If you use one of my covers, the elastic edge on the cover will hold your pad in place — you don't need to cut it down to the exact size of your board.
